Dr Tan has more than 30 years of experience across academia, as well as the biomedical, Internet technology, and bioinformatics sectors. He is an Associate Professor in the NUS Department of Biochemistry.
He has received numerous awards for his achievements over the past four decades and was inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame for pioneering the Internet in Singapore.
He was appointed Chairman of the A*STAR Computational Resource Centre and founded the National Supercomputing Centre. Dr Tan also served as an independent director on the board of Keppel DC REIT.
Dr Tan Tin Wee was trained as a biochemist and molecular biologist in Cambridge, London, and Edinburgh in the 1980s.
