Beating the Heat: Ice Cream Making 101

Our seniors gathered in groups at the Kovan branch of Udders on a hot afternoon last month to attend an ice cream workshop, learning the tips and tricks of making ice cream and to beat the heat. The aim of this workshop was to bring our seniors closer together, through this exciting and novel experience.

To start off, different themes and flavours of ice cream were ideated by the seniors using colour pencils, to imagine their perfect combination of three scoops of ice cream they would put on their cones. Next, participants were given the ingredients to mix together in bags, and to shake well—making the batter for creating their own ice cream. Through this experience, our seniors learnt that the manual process of ice cream making involved a fair amount of physical work, but nonetheless, they had fun during the process, with smiling faces all around.

We hope the workshop was a fulfilling one for them, and that our seniors enjoyed themselves thoroughly.
