[Our Leadership and Team] Prof Choo Chiau Beng - Title

Prof Choo served as the Chairman of M1 Limited and CEO of Keppel Corporation. He is currently a Board Member of National Research Foundation, Prime Minister’s Office, and a member of Science and Engineering Research Council Board of A*STAR. He is also the Chairman of National University of Singapore (NUS) Centre for Maritime Studies, Chairman of the Board of Governors of Raffles Institution, a Management Board member of Institute for Engineering Leadership at NUS, and a member of Singapore University of Technology and Design’s Board of Trustees.

In July 2014, Mr Choo was appointed by NUS as Provost’s Chair and Professor (Practice) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Department of Management and Organisation, NUS Business School.

Mr Choo was conferred the Public Service Star Award (BBM) in August 2004, The Meritorious Service Medal in 2008 and NTUC Medal of Commendation (Gold) Award in May 2007.

An industry veteran with over 30 years of experience, Dr. Tan held a wide variety of roles in industry and government, including product development at Motorola, techno-business consulting at Scientific Generics in Cambridge, UK, Chief Technology Officer at the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), the Executive Director at the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) and now running AIDA Technologies, an award-winning FinTech start-up with customers across 6 countries. AIDA was acquired by Amplify Health in Jan 2023.

Dr Tan obtained his PhD from Cambridge University in 1990. He attended the Advanced Management Programme at Wharton in 2007 and the Executive Programme at the Singularity University in 2011.

Dr Jerome Goh is a Clinical Director, Division for Central Health at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Prior to that, he held the position of Senior Consultant and Chief of the Department of Forensic Psychiatry at IMH. He is also the Clinical Director of Prison’s Psychiatric Housing Unit, which provides mental health treatment and rehabilitation to inmates with mental disorders. He holds teaching appointments for medical students as Clinical Senior Lecturer with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor with Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School.

Mr Dileep Nair has more than 30 years of experience in governance and public service in the Singapore Civil Service and the United Nations. He was with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs serving as the High Commissioner to the Republic of Ghana from 2013 to2016. Prior to that, Dileep was the Ambassador to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic from 2011 to 2013 and the Consul-General to the Emirate of Dubai from 2006 to 2010. He was the Under-Secretary-General for Internal Oversight Services at the United Nations from 2000 to 2005.

Mr Nair is now an Independent Director of MS First Capital Reinsurance and Singapore Reinsurance Corporation Limited, as well as a Board Member of the Health Sciences Authority of Singapore. He is also an adjunct lecturer at the Civil Service College of Singapore. Mr Nair also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sree Narayana Mission.

Mrs Tan-Huang Shuo Mei is the Senior Director, Special Projects, at SingHealth. Following a 21-year career in the Central Provident Fund Board and the then Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports, she built her career in Public Affairs, Customer Service and Public Education. She became Director of the Social Development Unit before joining Singapore General Hospital (SGH) as its first Director, Communications, in 2004 and took on a concurrent appointment at SingHealth in 2007. Mrs Tan-Huang is also the former CEO of Singapore Cord Blood Bank.

[Our Leadership and Team] Ms Chen Yew Nah - Title

Ms Chen’s last corporate role was Managing Director, DP Information Group, part of the Experian® Group, the world’s largest credit reference agency. Experian is listed on the London Stock Exchange and a constituent of the FTSE-100. In 18 years of heading DP Information Group, Singapore’s largest local company specialising in credit and business information, Ms Chen turned the companies around by redefining and re-engineering the methods, management and technology applications of DP Info Group and its large data library. She expanded the company from 30 employees in 1996 to more than 150 information and credit bureau specialists today.

Now retired from corporate life, Ms Chen is interested in spending the next 10 years in social enterprise development work and environment promotional efforts. She is currently Managing Director of Zeles Network Ltd, a non-profit organisation that seeks to promote and enhance Singapore’s volunteer movement through a Mobile Multi-Platform Volunteer Management System.

Ms Jesilynn Luar is a Chartered Accountant of Singapore.

She is currently finance director (Southeast Asia) at Donaldson Filtration, an NYSE-listed company and one of the largest providers of unique filtration technologies and high-quality filters and parts.

Ms Luar has more than 20 years of experience in various finance positions in multinational corporations.

Dr Phua graduated from School of Medicine, the National University of Singapore in 1999. He earned his master’s degree Emergency Medicine in 2005 and qualified as a specialist emergency physician in 2006. He is currently a senior consultant emergency physician in Tan Tock Seng Hospital Emergency Department.

Dr Phua is also trained in Clinical Toxicology and currently provides toxicology services to his hospital.

He is actively involved in medical education and obtained in master’s degree in Education, Evaluation, Statistics and Assessment in 2016. He is currently the program director of the Emergency Medicine residency program of National Healthcare Group.

His research interests include acute poisoning and management and clinical decision making.

Dr. Tan Tin Wee was trained as a biochemist and molecular biologist in Cambridge, London and Edinburgh in the 80s. Dr Tan has more than 30 years of experience in academia, the biomedical, Internet technology and bioinformatics sectors. Dr. Tan is an Associate Professor of the NUS Department of Biochemistry.

He has won numerous awards for his achievements over last four decades, and was inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame for pioneering internet in Singapore.

He was appointed as Chairman of the A*STAR Computational Resource Centre and founded the National Supercomputing Centre. Dr Tan was also serving as an independent director on the board of Keppel DC REIT.

[Our Leadership and Team] Dr Irene Tirtajana Title

Dr Irene Tirtajana is currently the Head of Psychiatry at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH). In her clinical role, Dr Tirtajana provides care to medically ill patients with psychiatric conditions, as well as general psychiatry patients. Her special interests lie in mindfulness-based interventions and the link between psychology and chronic diseases.

Dr Tirtajana obtained both her basic medical degree and master’s degree in medicine in psychiatry from the National University of Singapore, earning her specialist accreditation in 2014. She has worked at various hospitals in Singapore and managed patients from a broad range of psychiatric sub-specialties as part of her training.

Apart from her clinical role, Dr Tirtajana is a member of NTFGH’s Clinical Ethics Committee. She also serves on the Transplant Ethics Committee of the National Organ Transplant Unit.

Dr Tirtajana is a Clinical Lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, the National University of Singapore. Besides teaching medical students, she has given talks and presentations on a range of mental health topics to fellow doctors, allied heath professionals and the public.

[Our Leadership and Team] Ms Yap Su-Yin Title

Ms Yap Su-Yin was previously the CEO of Tan Chin Tuan Foundation, managing its grants and developing programs in Singapore and ASEAN for 14 years.

She was a news correspondent with over 20 years of media and communications experience. Her articles have been published in international media, including the International New York Times, The South China Morning Post, the Asian Wall Street Journal as well as The Straits Times, where she won awards for news features.

She is also a board member of the National Council of Social Service, and a board member of Shared Services for Charities, where she is Chairman of its Human Resource and Professional Development committee. She previously served on the board of the Community Justice Centre, which she helped seed.

Su-Yin is an alumnus of the National University of Singapore, and holds a Masters in Mass Communications from the University of Leicester, UK. She is also a Licentiate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in the UK.

Dr Foo Keong Tatt obtained a postgraduate degree in surgery (FRCS) from the Royal College of Surgeons in 1971 and a postgraduate degree in urology (FAMS) from the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, in 1991. He is currently Emeritus Consultant and Adviser at the Department of Urology at Singapore General Hospital, having served as the Head of Department from 1988 to 2001. He is a Clinical Professor at National University of Singapore and Adjunct Professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School.

He is the Founder President of the Singapore Urological Association; was the Secretary-General to the Urological Association of Asia from 1998 to 2006; and has been the Honorary Executive Director of the Urological Association of Asia (UAA) since 2010. He is currently a member of the Residency Advisory committee, Specialist Accreditation Board (SAB) under the Ministry of Health.

He was awarded the Public Administrative Medal (Silver) in 2001.

Dr Chua Hong Choon is Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer (Clinical) of the National Healthcare Group (NHG) in Singapore.

A psychiatrist by training, Dr Chua is also the Chairman of the national Residency Advisory Committee (RAC) for Psychiatry, and Adjunct Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, Yong Loo Lin Medical School and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.

Dr Chua has a strong interests in the fields of public health, psychiatric epidemiology, depression issues, and quality and safety in healthcare. He was the first Patient Safety Officer at the Institute of Mental Health, for which developed programs and initiatives to improve clinical quality and safeguard patient safety in mental healthcare.

Ms Tina Hung is currently Senior Consultant at National Council Social Services. She is passionate about uplifting vulnerable people, forging sustainable solutions, and developing future leaders. She hopes to continue addressing social problems, mental health issues, and co-creating person-centred, integrated and user-empowered services.

Ms Hung holds a double master’s degree in public administration and social work. She was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver), the Pioneer Social Worker Award (2016), and the Ann Wee Social Work Alumni Award (2020).

Dr Daniel Fung is the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Medical Board of the Institute of Mental Health. He has been President of the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions since 2018. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor in all 3 medical schools in Singapore and teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students. Dr Fung’s research interests are in anxiety and disruptive behaviour disorders and their relationship with learning disorders.

Dr Christopher Cheok is the Vice Chairman, Medical Board (National Addictions Management Service), Institute of Mental Health. He is a Senior Consultant psychiatrist and a visiting consultant to the Singapore Armed Forces and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. He is also a member of the medical board of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.

During his career with the Singapore Armed Forces, Dr Cheok was the Commanding Officer of Medical Classification Centre, the Deputy Commander of the Military Medicine Institute and the Head of the Psychological Care Centre. He has served in peacekeeping missions in East Timor and humanitarian relief mission during Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004.

Mr Tan Siak Hee has owned his own legal practice since 1984. He volunteers his time to give pro bono legal advice. He also holds talks on subjects of legal interest at Brahm Centre.

Adj A/Prof Angie Chew is the Founder, CEO and Mindfulness Principal of Brahm Centre, a mental health charity with more than 50 employees, dedicated to promoting happier and healthier living. She is the first certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher in Singapore by Brown-UMass. She has been a certified Dot-b and Paws b mindfulness teacher and a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy Course teacher. She was trained by Oxford University Mindfulness Centre and is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Mindfulness at the National University of Singapore. She is also a member of the Monash Centre for Consciousness and Contemplative Studies advisory committee.

A/Prof Chew has taught mindfulness courses and conducted workshops and retreats for more than 10,000 people. Her corporate clients are from sectors, such as finance (Goldman Sachs, DBS, OCBC, Bank of Singapore); healthcare (Ministry of Health, National Health Group, SingHealth, Institute of Mental Health, Agency for Integrated Health, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Community Psychology Hub); and education (Ministry of Education, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Hwa Chong Institution, Raffles Institution, Nanyang Girls Secondary, St Anthony’s Canossian Secondary School).

Before founding Brahm Centre in 2012, she held senior positions in Singapore Airlines, Visa International, Accenture, Hewlett-Packard and various government agencies.
