MESSAGE FROM FOUNDER

MESSAGE FROM FOUNDER

In recent years, there has been a drastic increase in interest in the health benefits of mindfulness, both physical and mental, amongst the medical and health community. This has translated to a rise in scientific research studies which have shown empirical evidence of the good that the practice of mindfulness can have on reducing and even preventing the ill-effects of adverse health conditions such as anxiety, depression, insomnia and pain.

In 2018, Singapore Mindfulness Conference (SMC) was launched as an annual event by Brahm Centre, in partnership with IMH and Duke-NUS, in recognition of how important a role mindfulness can play in empowering people to lead happier and healthier lives. It features esteemed speakers who are experts in their respective fields to showcase exciting recent findings and enlighten delegates on the science behind the effectiveness of mindfulness practice.

The event goes beyond being merely a theoretical showcase of information and includes hands-on workshops and sessions that guide delegates in learning and applying practical mindfulness skills.

SMC 2020, co-organised by Brahm Centre and NUS Residential College 4, will be focusing on caring for the mind, body and environment. The broader theme this year aims to appeal to the interests of a wide-ranging audience. This will build on the overwhelmingly positive response that SMC 2019 received with almost 1,000 delegates leaving this major event with a greater understanding of what mindfulness is and does. Read about SMC 2019 here.
