Simei Dementia Screening Event 8th Jun 2024

We are delighted to share the success of our first-ever dementia screening program for senior citizens, held on 8th June at Brahm Centre in collaboration with the Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA). With 25 enthusiastic participants, this event marks the sixth program dedicated to our senior community by SINDA.

Our key focus was to ensure that our elderly residents are not socially isolated. Here’s what the program entailed:

  • Exercise Routines: Simple exercises seniors can do at home.
  • Mental Health Tips: Advice on improving mental health and lifestyle habits.
  • Craft Activity: Creating colourful coasters in various shapes.
  • Interactive Sessions: Singing, dancing, and playing games with our wonderful volunteers.
  • Health Screening: A 40-minute examination to detect symptoms of dementia.

Mr. Anbarasu Rajendran, SINDA’s Chief Executive Officer, emphasized, “We have been conducting several programs over the past few years to provide additional assistance to senior citizens who are facing forms of financial crisis. They face certain problems due to their age. Therefore, we planned a health-based medical program for these seniors.”

Our collaboration with SINDA was truly enriching. Mr. Dileep Nair, Board Director of Brahm Centre, expressed our shared vision, stating, “At Brahm Centre, we are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for our elderly community. We are grateful to SINDA for partnering with us in this meaningful initiative to enrich the lives of isolated Indian seniors.”

One of our participants, Mr. Saroja Kuppan, 59, shared his joy: “I am very happy to have participated in this event. Events organized by SINDA are always a relief. I enjoyed everything today, from the handicraft activity, dancing, singing, and more.”

We thank everyone involved for making this event a success. Together, we continue to enrich the lives of our senior community.
