Prof Kua Ee Hock

 
 

Professor Kua Ee Heok is the Tan Geok Yin Professor in  Psychiatry and Neuroscience at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Consultant Psychiatrist at Mind Care Clinic, Farrer Park Medical Centre.  

His training in psychiatry was at Oxford University and  geriatric psychiatry at Harvad

He is the former Head of NUS Department of Psychological Medicine and CEO & Medical Director at the Institute of Mental Health. 

His team at the NUS Mind Science Centre has published recent research papers on Mindfulness Meditation on MRI brain changes, memory, depression, telomeres, gene expression and gut bacteria. 

A member of the WHO team for the Global Study of Dementia, he is the former President of the Pacific-Rim College of Psychiatrists and has been invited by the United Nations in New York to speak in a world forum on ‘Depression – the Hidden Illness’. 

He has published 370 research papers and 27 books on psychiatry, addiction and ageing. His  novel ‘Listening to Letter from America’, is used in a module on anthropology at Harvard. He is Editor-in-Chief (with Norman Sartorius) of the 7-volume series ‘Mental Health and Illness Worldwide’.
