Dr Daniel J Siegel received his medical degree from Harvard University and completed his postgraduate medical education at UCLA with training in pediatrics and child, adolescent and adult psychiatry.  He served as a National Institute of Mental Health Research Fellow at UCLA, studying family interactions with an emphasis on how attachment experiences influence emotions, behaviour, autobiographical memory and narrative.

Dr Siegel is currently clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine where he is on the faculty of the Centre for Culture, Brain and Development and the founding co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Centre. An award-winning educator, he is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and recipient of several honorary fellowships.  Dr Siegel is also the Executive Director of the Mindsight Institute, an educational organisation which offers online learning and in-person lectures that focus on how the development of mindsight in individuals, families and communities can be enhanced by examining the interface of human relationships and basic biological processes. His psychotherapy practice includes children, adolescents, adults, couples and families.  He serves as the Medical Director of the LifeSpan Learning Institute and on the Advisory Board of the Blue School in New York City, which has built its curriculum around Dr Siegel’s Mindsight approach.

Dr Foo obtained his post-graduate degree in Surgery FRCS from the College of Surgeon of Edinburgh in 1971, and FAMS (Urology) 1991. He is currently Emeritus Consultant and Advisor at the Department of Urology at Singapore General Hospital, having served as the Head of Department from 1988 to 2001; is a Clinical Professor at National University of Singapore and Adjunct Professor at Duke-NUS GMS.

He is the Founder President of the Singapore Urological Association; was the Secretary-General to the Urological Association of Asia from 1998 to 2006 and has been the Honorary Executive Director of the Urological Association of Asia (UAA) since 2010. He is currently a member of the Residency Advisory committee, Specialist Accreditation Board (SAB) under the Ministry of Health.

He was awarded the Public Administrative Medal (Silver) in 2001.

 

Dr. Christopher Cheok

Our Distinguished Advisor

Dr. Christopher Cheok is the Vice Chairman, Medical Board (National Addictions Management Service), Institute of Mental Health. He is a Senior Consultant psychiatrist and a visiting consultant to the Singapore Armed Forces and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. He is also a member of the medical board of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.

During his career with the Singapore Armed Forces, Dr. Cheok was the Commanding Officer of Medical Classification Centre, the Deputy Commander of the Military Medicine Institute and the Head of the Psychological Care Centre. He has served in peacekeeping missions in East Timor and in humanitarian relief mission during the Asian Tsunami.

Our Legal Advisor

Mr Tan owns his own Legal Practice since 1984.  He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators.  He is an Independent Director in Soon Lian Holdings Ltd.

He very generously volunteers his time by giving Pro Bono Legal Advise at Brahm Centre. He also holds talks on subjects of legal interest.

Dr Kevin Ow Yong

Our Finance Advisor

Dr. Kevin Ow Yong received his Bachelor of Accountancy (First Class Honours) from Nanyang Technological University and his Ph.D. from Duke University. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Singapore Management University. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Chartered Accountant (CA). He specializes in fair value accounting, earnings management, earnings quality, analyst and valuation topics as well as on corporate governance issues.

His work has been published in several well known accounting research journals. He has been cited in two of Singapore’s most well-circulated newspapers, the Straits Times and the Business Times on several occasions, as well as in Accounting and Business (ACCA publication), CPA Singapore (Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants publication), Pulses (previously, the Singapore Stock Exchange Journal), Smart Investor, QFinance and CFO Asia, a publication of The Economist Group. He also serves as a committee member with the CFA Society (Singapore).
